Frequently Asked Questions
Why use a shampoo bar versus liquid shampoo?
A shampoo bar is simply the solid version of liquid shampoo. It has the same ingredients as a bottle of shampoo, without the plastic waste. One shampoo bar replaces three bottles, proving No Bullsh*t Bars are both eco-friendly and economical. No Bullsh*t Bars are made with only seven ingredients, whereas a bottled shampoo typically contains up to 30 - hence the name: No Bullsh*t.
What is syndet and Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate?
No Bullsh*t Bars include the syndet (synthetic detergent) Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI), which may sound scary; however, is simply a coconut oil based cleaner (or surfactant). Surfactants are necessary to make shampoos shampoo, therefore we chose a mild surfactant that is the most naturally derived. SCI is what allows No Bullsh*t Bars to clean, lather, and emulsify without dehydrating the skin. SCI is often used in baby products due to its exceptional mildness.
What is the difference between syndet shampoo bars and a soap bar?
One of the key differences between syndet shampoo bars and soap bars is the pH. Syndet shampoo bars have a mildly acidic pH of 5.5, whereas soap bars have a basic pH of 7-9. Our scalp's natural pH is 5.5, meaning that the high pH of soaps can cause a dry, itchy, flaky scalp. No Bullsh*t Bars match your scalp's natural pH, nourishing your scalp and preventing hair breakage.
